Joann Georgeon, age 70 of Crown Point, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2009.
Joann is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, James Georgeon; 2 children: Faye (Russell) Sessions of DeMotte, IN and Peter Georgeon of Chicago, IL; 3 grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley), Zachary & Logan Sessions; 2 great-grandchildren: Noah & Uriah Sessions; 2 sisters: Despina (Bill) Demetrakis of Florida & Connie Stroumbakis of Merrillville; and nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, Peter & Efthalia Christakis and sister, Mary Kostides.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:30 AM directly at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville, Rev. Theodore Poteres officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family Friday, February 5th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held Friday at 5:00 PM.
Joann was a member of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Daughters of Penelope, and a life-long member of the Philoptochos. She was very active in the women's philanthropic society; helping with activities such as the annual Greek Festival, bake sales and many other church events.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Joann to Ss. Constantine & Helen Cathedral or the Philoptochos.
