Neida "Nelly" A. Rivera, age 60 of Gary, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Nelly is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Jose L. Rivera; 4 children: Michael (Ida) Rivera, Cathy Velasquez, Yvette (Angel) Manfredy and Melissa Rivera; grandchildren: Jonathan, Lissette (Jeremy) Lahaie, Jordan Williams, Nick, Jessica, Celeste, Chris, Marina, Angel II and Joseph; great-grandchildren: Jisele, Isabella and Jazlene; parents, Candelario (Carmen) Rivera; brothers & sisters: Itsa D. Rivera, Evelyn (Scotty) Sanjurjo, Margarita (Favio) Lugo, Johnnie (Pat) Rivera; Edwin (Jackie) Rivera, Louisa Rivera, Milton (Anna) Rivera, Iris (Danny) Licega and Mildred Powers; numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, with Rev. Thomas Mischler officiating.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, March 5th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Prayer services will be held at 6:00 PM and at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Nelly was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church in Miller and taught CCD with the religious education program. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and the Hobart Brickies and Crown Point Bulldogs.
